A few weeks ago, we found the original location of this restaurant. Following that we found out there was a satellite location that is much closer to our home, which is where we had lunch today. Just like the original location, this is a combination grocery store and restaurant. The restaurant is very simple, but clean. Today our waitress seemed to speak very little english, and didn't seem to be familiar with the procedures for the restaurant. We think she might be a cashier who was helping with the lunch rush. I had 2 barbacoa tacos, with cilantro, lime and onion. They were simply delicious. Simple, fresh, modestly priced, and very filling. My spouse had the shrimp with vegetables, which she thought was quite tasty, and a better choice health-wise than the usual tex-mexish places. We also quite enjoyed the complementary trio of salsas. There is the typical red sauce (meh), a nicely done salsa verde, and an avocado-jalepeno salsa (no idea what it's called though) that was very good. The total bill for a very filling and tasty lunch was $12, which is an outstanding value. Also, they sell a variety of tamales, made in the store, that seemed reasonably-priced and of good quality. The chef, Carlos, spent a few minutes talking to us as we were leaving. He was very warm and gracious, asking about our experience and satisfaction. Much like the original location, our experience was quite positive, and I'm sure we will be back. I think it's time to brush up on a little espanol though.
